me:How did you get into voice acting?
ty:My deep voice. People always told me I had a deep voice… Yeah, people always told me I should be on the radio.

me:Is there anything you wish you had known when you first started?
ty:Nothing that comes to mind. I learned as I went. Maybe acting. Acting skills, for sure. Because as a voice actor you do have to act.

me:Tell me about your process?
ty:I work mostly in the online arena. So the the assignments come to me from all over the world which is pretty cool. I read the scripts a few times, record, edit and master the final format in either mp3 or .wav.

me:So, you have a studio?
ty:It’s a sound proof booth. It's right in my house. I built it forms scratch.

me:What is your favorite part of the process?
ty:Probably the aspect I love most is being in the studio. But I also love the versatility of the available assignments. From audio book recordings, to podcastings...elearning, commercials to character voices. I’ve done it all.

me:Is there anything people may not know about the uniqueness of your medium?
ty:The most unique thing about the business is that quite some time ago you had to be living in a big production city to even consider being a voice actor. As the world has changed most professionals now record from home.

ty:I would say my least favorite part is editing. My favorite part is being in the booth.

me:What’s your most FAQ?
ty:People usually say “that’s so cool”...then they wonder “what do you do?” or “what does that mean?”

me:If someone wanted to find your work?

me:Favorite recording that you've done thus far?
ty:Yeah. I enjoyed recording the Tao Te Ching audio book.

me:What advice would you give a potential voice artist?
ty:Go with the flow and don’t try to engineer expectations.
me:What do you do for fun in your spare time?
ty:The question is what don’t I do for fun? Good heavens, I have all kinds of things I do. First, I celebrate the wonder and beauty of my love (that's me). I love to be outside, anyplace, anytime, anywhere. I am an ameature enophile….any enophiliation. I am pursuing crafting vintage rockets. I am also pursuing vintage motorcycling tinkering and I love reading, and I love cooking. And i’m learning how to play the Bodhran.

me:Do you have a local artist that you enjoy?
ty:I enjoy all of our local artists! I’m impressed with the inspiration this area brings to the local artisan community...authors, painters, chefs...crafters. I love it all.

me:ThANK YOU!
